What’s Inside DYVAL Perform? The Ingredients Behind Our Hydration Formula for Young Athletes

What’s Inside DYVAL Perform? The Ingredients Behind Our Hydration Formula for Young Athletes

When we created DYVAL Perform, we didn't want to create another adult hydration product and simply market it to teenagers.

We wanted to start with the young athlete.

Young athletes are training hard, competing regularly and sweating through long games and training sessions, often in hot conditions. At the same time, their bodies are still growing and developing.

That is why we created DYVAL Perform - a natural hydration blend developed specifically with young athletes in mind.

Made with an organic coconut water powder base and a carefully selected combination of electrolytes, minerals and B vitamins, DYVAL Perform contains no caffeine, no artificial colours or flavours and no added sugar.

But the story behind DYVAL Perform is also personal.

Why We Created DYVAL Perform

DYVAL Perform started because of our son, Jake.

Jake is a young footballer who trains and plays a lot of football. We noticed that during games, particularly in the hot Australian weather, he would sometimes start to fade and feel tired as the game went on.

Like many parents of young athletes, we started looking at what he was drinking and what was available to support hydration around sport.

We found plenty of sports drinks and electrolyte products, but many weren't what we were looking for. Some were formulated primarily for adults. Some contained ingredients we didn't want. Others were high in sugar, artificially coloured or flavoured, or included caffeine.

We wanted something different.

We wanted a product created specifically with young athletes in mind - something we would be happy giving our own children.

That became DYVAL Perform.

Jake has now used the formula throughout training and games and has personally noticed a big difference in how he feels during sport. Other young athletes who have trialled it have also given us fantastic feedback.

Of course, every athlete is different and hydration is only one part of performance. Adequate food, carbohydrates, sleep, training, recovery and overall nutrition all matter too.

But having a convenient hydration option designed around young athletes was something we felt was missing.

Why Hydration Matters for Young Athletes

When athletes exercise, they lose fluid through sweat. Sweat also contains electrolytes, particularly sodium.

This becomes even more relevant when kids are exercising for longer periods, training intensely or playing sport in hot conditions.

The Australian Institute of Sport explains that sports drinks can help athletes address fluid and electrolyte needs around exercise, while sodium can assist with thirst and fluid retention. Importantly, individual requirements vary depending on factors such as exercise demands, environment and the athlete themselves.

That is why we didn't set out to create an extreme, high-dose adult electrolyte formula.

We created DYVAL Perform around the needs and lifestyle of the young athlete.

So, What's Actually in DYVAL Perform?

Every ingredient in DYVAL Perform has been carefully considered.

Organic Coconut Water Powder

Organic coconut water powder makes up the foundation of DYVAL Perform.

Rather than starting with a mixture of artificial ingredients, we wanted a naturally derived base that fitted with our philosophy of creating clean sports nutrition for young athletes.

Coconut water naturally contains minerals and has long been popular as a hydration drink.

It also helps give DYVAL Perform something we really wanted from the beginning - a formula built around recognisable, naturally derived ingredients rather than simply creating another brightly coloured sports drink.

Sodium - 278 mg Per Serve

Sodium is one of the key electrolytes lost through sweat.

DYVAL Perform provides approximately 278 mg of sodium per serve.

Sodium plays an important role in fluid balance, and sports nutrition guidance recognises sodium as an important component of many sports drinks and electrolyte products.

However, more isn't automatically better.

Some electrolyte products designed primarily for adults or endurance athletes contain substantially higher sodium levels. Those products can have a role for athletes with very high sweat losses, prolonged exercise or particularly salty sweat, but that wasn't the product we were trying to create.

DYVAL Perform was developed specifically with young athletes in mind.

Magnesium - 73 mg Per Serve

Magnesium is another important mineral in the DYVAL Perform formula.

Each serve contains approximately 73 mg of magnesium.

Magnesium supports normal electrolyte balance, normal muscle function and normal energy metabolism.

This is particularly relevant to active teenagers because adolescence is also a period of rapid growth. Australian Nutrient Reference Values recognise that magnesium requirements increase during adolescence as young people grow.

Our magnesium comes from Aquamin®, a marine-derived mineral source selected as part of our natural ingredient philosophy.

Calcium - 92 mg Per Serve

DYVAL Perform also provides approximately 92 mg of calcium per serve.

Calcium is especially relevant during childhood and adolescence because these are critical years for building strong bones.

For young athletes, who are balancing growth with the physical demands of regular sport and training, we wanted DYVAL Perform to offer more than a basic sodium-only hydration formula.

The calcium in DYVAL Perform comes from carefully selected mineral sources including AlgaeCal®.

Potassium - 151 mg Per Serve

Potassium is another electrolyte found in DYVAL Perform, with approximately 151 mg per serve.

Potassium is one of the electrolytes present in the body and is also lost in sweat, although generally in smaller quantities than sodium.

Together, sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium give DYVAL Perform a broader electrolyte and mineral profile.

8 x B Vitamins

One of the things that makes DYVAL Perform particularly different is the inclusion of a comprehensive B-vitamin blend.

DYVAL Perform contains:

  • Vitamin B1 - thiamin
  • Vitamin B2 - riboflavin
  • Vitamin B3 - niacin
  • Vitamin B5 - pantothenic acid
  • Vitamin B6
  • Folate
  • Vitamin B12
  • Biotin

These nutrients have a variety of normal functions in the body, including roles in energy metabolism.

We use Panmol® B Complex, derived from quinoa sprouts, because we wanted the vitamin component of DYVAL Perform to fit with the same ingredient philosophy as the rest of the product.

Importantly, B vitamins aren't stimulants.

DYVAL Perform doesn't rely on caffeine to make a young athlete feel "energised". Instead, the formula provides nutrients that support normal physiological processes alongside hydration.

Beetroot Powder

You'll also find beetroot powder in DYVAL Perform.

Beetroot fitted naturally with our philosophy of using plant-based, recognisable ingredients wherever possible and contributes to the overall natural formulation.

Strawberry Juice Powder

We wanted DYVAL Perform to taste good because ultimately, the best hydration product in the world isn't particularly useful if your teenager refuses to drink it.

Strawberry juice powder is another naturally derived ingredient incorporated into the formula and helps us create a product young athletes actually enjoy drinking.

No Caffeine

This was non-negotiable for us.

DYVAL Perform contains zero caffeine.

There is a growing range of sports and energy products available to teenagers, and the lines between sports drinks, electrolyte drinks, pre-workouts and energy drinks can sometimes become confusing.

We didn't want DYVAL Perform to rely on stimulants.

It was created as a hydration and nutrition product for young athletes - not an energy drink.

No Artificial Colours or Flavours

We also didn't want a fluorescent sports drink.

DYVAL Perform contains no artificial colours or flavours.

This was an important part of creating a product that we, as parents, would genuinely feel comfortable giving our own kids regularly around sport.

No Added Sugar

DYVAL Perform has no added sugar.

There is a small amount of naturally occurring sugar from the ingredients in the formula - approximately 0.7 g of sugars per serve.

It's important to distinguish this from saying that sugar or carbohydrate is inherently bad for athletes. It isn't.

Carbohydrate is an important fuel for exercise, and the Australian Institute of Sport notes that traditional sports drinks deliberately contain carbohydrate to provide fuel alongside fluid and electrolytes.

But we wanted DYVAL Perform to be a versatile hydration product rather than a high-sugar sports drink.

Young athletes can then obtain the carbohydrate they need through their broader sports nutrition strategy - meals, snacks and appropriate pre-game or during-game fuel - rather than every bottle of hydration needing to contain large amounts of added sugar.

Not an Adult Formula Repackaged for Kids

This is one of the most important things to understand about DYVAL Perform.

There are many excellent hydration and electrolyte products available, but a large proportion of the category has been created for adults.

That can include endurance athletes, runners, gym users and adults looking for everyday electrolyte supplementation.

There is nothing inherently wrong with an adult electrolyte product, and we aren't suggesting that every adult formula is unsuitable for teenagers.

We simply asked a different question:

What would we create if we started with the young athlete?

That question influenced the entire DYVAL philosophy.

We didn't chase enormous electrolyte doses simply because bigger numbers look impressive on packaging.

We didn't add caffeine.

We didn't want artificial colours or flavours.

We didn't load it with added sugar.

Instead, we created a balanced formula with an organic coconut water base, electrolytes, calcium, magnesium and B vitamins, designed around growing, active bodies.

Created for Sport

Australian kids don't exactly play sport in gentle conditions.

Football, rugby, netball, basketball, athletics, tennis and countless other sports involve long training sessions, weekend competitions and tournaments - often in heat and humidity.

The Australian Institute of Sport notes that hydration and electrolyte strategies become particularly relevant in hot environments and when sweat losses are high.

This was exactly the environment that inspired DYVAL Perform in the first place.

Watching Jake play football in the Australian heat made us realise there had to be a better hydration option for young athletes like him.

Convenient Enough to Actually Use

We also knew DYVAL Perform needed to work in real life.

Parents of sporty kids know what weekends can look like.

Boots. Shin pads. Uniforms. Water bottles. Food. Multiple games. Early starts. Tournaments. Training straight after school.

Nobody needs another complicated sports nutrition routine.

That's why DYVAL Perform comes in convenient individual sachets.

Put one in the sports bag, add it to water and you're ready to go.

It's simple enough for teenagers to manage themselves and convenient enough for parents to keep in the car, sports bag or pantry.

A Hydration Product Parents Can Feel Good About

Ultimately, DYVAL Perform was created from the perspective of a parent.

Before we were a sports nutrition brand, we were parents standing on the sidelines watching our kids play.

We wanted to know what was in their drink.

We wanted to understand why every ingredient was there.

We didn't want caffeine.

We didn't want artificial colours and flavours.

We didn't want unnecessary added sugar.

And we didn't want to take an extreme adult sports formula and simply put teenage athletes on the packaging.

We wanted to create something specifically for them.

That is DYVAL Perform.

Natural hydration. Thoughtfully formulated for young athletes. Created by parents who wanted something better for their own kids.
