What our nutritionist says about pea protein

Pea protein is a high-quality, plant-based source of protein that can be an excellent way to help young athletes meet their daily protein needs alongside a balanced diet.

Protein is particularly important for active teenagers because it provides the amino acids the body needs to support normal growth, muscle development, recovery and repair.

Why we chose pea protein for DYVAL

Pea protein is made from yellow peas and provides a naturally plant-based source of protein.

It contains all nine essential amino acids, although, like many plant proteins, it is naturally lower in some amino acids such as methionine compared with certain animal proteins.

One of the reasons we love pea protein is its simplicity. It provides a substantial amount of protein without relying on dairy-based whey protein, making it a useful alternative for people who prefer plant-based products or don't tolerate dairy well.

For young athletes training several times each week, getting enough protein throughout the day can help support the body's normal recovery and muscle-building processes.

But protein powder shouldn't replace real food. We believe food should always come first.

DYVAL Organic Protein Powder has been created as a convenient way to supplement a young athlete's diet when getting enough protein from meals and snacks isn't always practical - whether that's after training, in a smoothie, or as part of a nutritious recipe.

Protein for recovery

Exercise places stress on muscles, and dietary protein provides amino acids that the body uses to repair and build muscle tissue.

That's why including protein as part of a balanced post-training meal or snack can be particularly useful for young athletes who train and compete regularly.

Pairing protein with a source of carbohydrate after demanding exercise can also help provide the nutrients needed for recovery and refuelling.

Plant-based and naturally dairy-free

Because pea protein comes from plants rather than milk, it is naturally dairy-free.

It can therefore provide an alternative to whey-based protein powders for young athletes who avoid dairy or simply prefer a plant-based protein source.

Peas also generally require fewer natural resources to produce than animal-derived protein sources, making pea protein an attractive option from a sustainability perspective.

Ingredients we love in DYVAL Organic Protein Powder

Certified Organic Pea Protein – Our primary protein source, made from organic peas. It provides high-quality plant-based protein to help support muscle growth, repair and recovery as part of a balanced diet.

Certified Organic Cocoa Powder – Gives our chocolate protein its rich chocolate flavour while naturally providing plant compounds including cocoa flavanols.

Natural mineral salt – A small amount of salt helps balance the flavour of the protein powder and provides sodium, an essential mineral involved in normal fluid balance and muscle and nerve function.

Thaumatin – A naturally derived sweetener obtained from the Thaumatococcus daniellii plant. Because thaumatin is intensely sweet, only a very small amount is needed to provide sweetness without loading the product with added sugar.

Simple nutrition for young athletes

At DYVAL, we don't believe young athletes need products packed with unnecessary ingredients.

Our approach is simple: quality ingredients, purposeful nutrition and education that helps young athletes understand how to fuel their bodies properly.

Protein powder is not a replacement for a healthy diet. It's simply another convenient tool to help young athletes get the nutrition they need around busy school, training and competition schedules.
